The CM1, making art like cavemen...

This week in art we painted like caveman. We started by taking a virtual tour of Lascaux Caves. Lascaux Caves in southwestern France are famous for its Paleolithic cave paintings. In class we talked about how the caves where discovered, we observed and discussed the technics the caveman used to make the paintings. We also talked about the reasons Lascaux II located 200 meters away from the original was created, where the visitors may see the painted scenes without harming the originals.

We worked individually on images of animals and we also created a group project where we painted a part of the cave wall.
We crumpled the paper and pre painted the background using consentrated black coffee to make it look like a rock wall. We used charcoal, burnt wooden sticks, and handmade spice paints to paint animals.
