Halloween Parade - Oct. 31st at 2:00 pm

Math and how to share a treasure equally

Imagine, you never know when you might find a treasure and have to share in 2, 3 or more equal parts.

After giving some time and personal thought, the kids regroup their thinking.

Their personal work is shared and explained to the group.

The children discussed the ideas to determine the best solution.
They may all get a part of the treasure.!!

"se repérer dans l'espace"or space modeling. The children built a model of their classroom with legos.

and placing them on the map

Apple decorating with parents- so much fun!

Merci beaucoup Parents Association!!!!

Thanks to the school parents for organizing this fun activity
and for donating the apples and decorations and for volunteering to help!

All of the children had a great time decorating their melted chocolate or caramel-dipped apples with all sorts of decorations including: candy corn, licorice, candy eyes, bugs, and pumpkins,
(or all of those cereals they never get to have for breakfast at home!)

Each apple was unique and the children took them home to enjoy!

La chenille qui fait des trous

This week, we told a story: " La chenille qui fait des trous" d'Eric Carle to ALL the kids in our school.
We were really excited and very happy to share our work with the little kids, the bigger kids and even some parents.
We had to speak in front of each other, and remember to speak loudly and clearly.
It was our first time doing this, and it was really impressive.

A la découverte du bords de mer - Wolfe's Neck State Park

October was really warm in Maine this year and we were able to enjoy lots of activities outdoors

We went on a seaside walk at Wolfe's Neck State Park

We looked for crabs and mussels

and whatever else we could find...

We actually saw a seal  (and a paddling surfer).

We sat down for a while and drew some pictures
using "aquarelle" paints and the ocean water.

We did some drawings of the surrounding landscape

What a beautiful and memorable day!

Bus Driver Appreciation Week- Merci Thornton!

Thank you Thornton for taking us on field trips all year long: Apple picking, Wolfes' Neck Farm, Biking, The YMCA each week, Bowdoin College Museum of Art, and so many other places.
You make it possible and we appreciate all you do for us!

Peinture sur main à la manière de Guido Daniele classe des CE2 et CM1

Guido Daniele, an Italian artist, specializes in body painting and has been experimenting with painting on hands since 1990.  Due to advanced finger gymnastics, he was able to paint a large number of "handimals".  The children in grades 3 and 4, inspired by his work, achieved these impressive results!

These photographs are the only proof of these ephemeral paintings.

Les tables de multiplication en classe de CM2

In order to review the multiplication tables, students wear a “multiplication sticker” during Math class.

While working, we change our names into Monsieur ou Madame. 49, 64, 56, 81 ..

This is a fun way to remember difficult products that students easily forget.

On recycle avec Ecomaine

In science, the CE2 and CM1 have been working on waste and recycling. We had discussions, we wondered about trash, where it all goes, what happens after it lands in your trash can…

Yesterday, Leo from Ecomaine came and presented some very interesting facts and information to us.

We put our gloves on to be safe

We brought recyclable waste from home and we worked with it. We weighed the total amount of trash we threw away in one day in our class.

Then, we had an activity during which we divided and organized waste and recyclables into different categories: glass, plastic, carboard..

Our science session on waste will end with a visit to the Ecomaine recycling facility in Portland so the students will be able to see with their own eyes what happens to trash.
