Le défi lecture

Since last year the reading contest has become an important activity at L’Ecole Française du Maine. This reading contest promotes teamwork and motivates children to read in French.
This school year, it started in October. The 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th graders meet every week to read together.
Classes are mixed up and four teams have been created, each one made of three different reading levels. Each team has to read three books (one per level), make sure they understand everything, know all the characters, identify the different events, locations… To end the reading part of the contest, they all create questionnaires, exercises and games about each book they read.
The teachers then compiled and enriched their productions for a time limited written test that each team had to take and answer questions about the books as precisely as possible. The motivation created by these books has been incredible, and they all had good results. Everyone has been rewarded for his/her great work and efforts. It is now time for the second contest. Vivement les trois nouveaux livres!
